Direct to fabric
What is a direct to fabric printer?
A direct to fabric printer puts ink straight onto the textile. No transfer paper and no transfer calender.
That matters for two reasons. You stop buying paper, which is a fixed cost on every metre. And with pigment or reactive ink you can print cotton, linen and blends, which sublimation cannot do.
The Arachne Hexa does this on a roll-to-roll system. Fabric unwinds from one roll, passes under the heads and the dryer, and winds onto the take-up roll. No belt to glue, wash or maintain.

Woven fabrics only
The roll-to-roll feed is built for woven and low-stretch material. For knits and stretch fabric you need a belt machine such as the APOLLON.
Finishing
What do you need besides the printer?
That depends on the ink, and it is the question that changes the budget most.
With pigment ink
The printed fabric is heat-fixed. No steaming and no washing. d.gen has supplied textile pigment inks since 2010. It is the route for printing cotton without a wet finishing line.
With disperse ink
Heat fixation on polyester. The full set with fixation unit takes a 3,767 × 1,860 mm footprint.
With reactive ink
Pretreatment, steaming and washing. Three processes, each with its own equipment, water and space. You get the colour depth and handle that fashion buyers ask for.

Why choose a roll-to-roll direct to fabric printer?
It is easy to run
The patented d.gen roll-to-roll feed loads like a large-format printer. Operators who have run a sublimation plotter learn it fast.
It dries as it prints
The front dryer is built in, so the fabric reaches the take-up roll dry.
It fits a normal building
3,280 mm wide, single-phase 220 V power. You do not need an industrial hall to start printing on fabric.
It takes both core sizes
Dual 2 and 3 inch cores on feed and take-up, so you use the rolls your fabric supplier already ships.
